Hon. N. H. R. Dawson, of Selma one of the grandest men and finest gentlemen Alabama ever produced, has already become a favorite in Washington, where he now resides as U. S. Commissioner of Education. In a personal sketch of this distinguished Alabamian, Frank Leslie’s Illustrated Newspaper says: “Col. Dawson bears a remarkable resemblance to the German Premier, Prince von Bismark, being over six feet high, stout and compactly built, and of fine presence. As Commissioner, he has made an excellent impression upon all with whom he has been brought into official contact; and it is believed that he will prove to be emphatically, the “right man in the right place.”—Herald.
